Winter Storm Warning issued January 5 at 2:30AM EST until January 7 at 7:00AM EST by NWS Pittsburgh PA* WHAT...Heavy mixed precipitation expected. Total snowaccumulations between 9 and 12 inches and ice accumulations up totwo tenths of an inch. Winds gusting as high as 35 mph.* WHERE...Eastern Preston, Eastern Tucker, and Western TuckerCounties.* WHEN...From 7 PM this evening to 7 AM EST Tuesday.* IMPACTS...Roads, and especially bridges and overpasses, willlikely become slick and hazardous. Visibilities may drop below 1/4mile due to falling and blowing snow.* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...There are two realistic outcomes from thiswinter event. One features colder air for the duration, with aband of heavy snow (8 to 14 inches) for the ridges of WestVirginia which does not mix with other precipitation types. Thesecond features a temporary transition from snow to sleet andfreezing rain Monday morning before turning back to snow by Mondayafternoon (totals by Monday evening of 6 to 8 inches and a bit ofice accumulation). Either outcome will produce hazardous impactsin the region.Persons should delay all travel if possible. If travel is absolutelynecessary, drive with extreme caution and be prepared for suddenchanges in visibility. Leave plenty of room between you and themotorist ahead of you, and allow extra time to reach yourdestination. Avoid sudden braking or acceleration, and be especiallycautious on hills or when making turns. Make sure your car iswinterized and in good working order.
