This will create a situation in which heat illnesses arepossible.Never, ever, leave children or pets alone in enclosed vehicles, noteven for a few minutes. Car interiors can reach lethal temperaturesin a matter of minutes.Stay indoors and seek air-conditioned buildings. Drink water morethan usual, and avoid dehydrating alcoholic, sugary, or caffeinateddrinks. Dress for the heat by wearing lightweight and light coloredclothing. Eat small meals and eat more often. Monitor those with ahigher vulnerability to heat, including small children. Check in onfamily, friends, and neighbors, especially the elderly. If engagingin outdoor activity, take longer and more frequent breaks and avoidthe hottest parts of the day.
