High Surf Advisory issued December 22 at 1:47PM PST until December 23 at 10:00PM PST by NWS Portland OR* WHAT...Large waves and hazardous surf conditions. Breakers upto 25 to 30 feet.* WHERE...North and Central Coast of Oregon, and SouthWashington Coast.* WHEN...Until 10 PM PST Monday.* IMPACTS...Destructive waves may wash over beaches, jetties, andother structures unexpectedly. People can be swept off rocks andjetties and drown while observing high surf. Minor beach erosionmay damage coastal properties and buildings. Higher than normalwater run-up is expected on beaches and low-lying shoreline.Enhanced possibility for sneaker waves.A High Surf Advisory means that high surf will affect beaches,producing rip currents, sneaker waves and beach erosion. Staywell back from the water's edge and be alert for exceptionallyhigh waves.Keep away from large logs on the beach. Water running up on thebeach can easily lift or roll logs which can injure or killsomeone caught in their path.
