Travel will be difficult,especially for high profile vehicles.Remain in the lower levels of your home during the windstorm, andavoid windows. Watch for falling debris and tree limbs. Lake Effect Snow Warning issued February 16 at 12:51PM EST until February 19 at 6:00AM EST by NWS Binghamton NY* WHAT...For the Winter Storm Warning, freezing rain, turning tosnow and sleet later this afternoon. Additional snow and sleetaccumulations up to one inch and ice accumulations up to one tenthof an inch. Winds gusting as high as 45 mph. For the Lake EffectSnow Warning, Total snow accumulations between 10 and 20 inchesover the two and a half day time period. Locally up to 2 feet ofsnow possible over northwest Oneida County. Winds gusting as highas 60 mph tonight into Monday will likely create hazardouswhiteout conditions.* WHERE...Northern Oneida and Southern Oneida Counties.* WHEN...For the Winter Storm Warning, until 7 PM EST this evening.For the Lake Effect Snow Warning, from 7 PM this evening to 6 AMEST Wednesday.* IMPACTS...Scattered power outages and tree damage are possible dueto the ice. Travel could be nearly impossible. Areas of blowingand drifting snow could significantly reduce visibility, causingblizzard conditions and whiteouts in open exposed locations. Thehazardous conditions will impact the Monday morning and eveningcommutes. Strong winds could cause extensive damage to trees andpower lines.* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Significant icing today could cause treedamage and power outages across the county. Heavy lake effect snowwill combine with strong northwest winds late tonight into Mondayto bring near blizzard conditions at times in the heaviest lakeeffect snow bands. Snowfall rates of 1 to 2 inches per hour areexpected in the heavy lake effect snow. This will be a longduration event through Tuesday night.
