Cold Weather Advisory issued January 22 at 2:58AM EST until January 22 at 12:00PM EST by NWS Detroit/Pontiac MI* WHAT...Very cold wind chills as low as 15 to 20 below zero.* WHERE...All of southeast Michigan.* WHEN...Until noon EST today.* IMPACTS...The dangerously cold wind chills around 20 below zerocan cause frostbite on exposed skin in as little as 30 minutes.Frostbite and hypothermia will occur if unprotected skin isexposed to these temperatures. Wind chill values can lead tohypothermia with prolonged exposure.* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...The coldest wind chill values which nowreside around 20 below zero will hold through 9 AM today.Keep pets indoors as much as possible.Use caution while outdoors. Wear appropriate clothing, a hat, andgloves.Make frequent checks on older family, friends, and neighbors. Ensureportable heaters are used correctly. Do not use generators inside.
