Flood Warning issued January 21 at 5:22AM CST by NWS Chicago IL...The Flood Warning continues for the following rivers inIllinois...Kankakee River at Momence affecting Kankakee County.For the Kankakee River...including Momence...Minor flooding isforecast.* WHAT...Flooding is expected due to river ice.* WHERE...Kankakee River from IL/IN state line downstream toconfluence with Iroquois River at Aroma Park, including theMomence gauge.* WHEN...Until further notice.* IMPACTS...At 6.0 feet, Campgrounds threatened east of Momence.* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...- At 4:45 AM CST Tuesday the stage was 6.1 feet.- Forecast...The river is expected to remain in flood for thenext several days. Water level fluctuations remain possibleif ice shifts along the river.- Flood stage is 5.0 feet.- http://www.weather.gov/safety/floodAn ice jam is affecting water levels in this area. River forecastsduring ice jams are less certain due to many complicated factors.Significant river ice cover can cause large water level fluctuationsand flooding with little advanced notice.
