An extended period of freezingtemperatures could cause ruptured water pipes.Wear protective clothing such as a hat, facemask and heavy gloves ormittens if you have plans to be outdoors.To prevent freezing and possible bursting of outdoor water pipesthey should be wrapped, drained, or allowed to drip slowly. Thosethat have in-ground sprinkler systems should drain them and coverabove-ground pipes to protect them from freezing.Make sure outdoor animals have a warm, dry shelter, food, andunfrozen water.Make frequent checks on older family, friends, and neighbors. Ensureportable heaters are used correctly. Do not use generators or grillsinside.
