Red Flag Warning issued January 22 at 2:14PM PST until January 24 at 10:00AM PST by NWS Los Angeles/Oxnard CA...RED FLAG WARNING IN EFFECT THROUGH FRIDAY 10 AM PST FOR MOSTOF LOS ANGELES AND VENTURA COUNTIES FOR EXTREMELY LOW RELATIVEHUMIDITY AND PERIODS OF GUSTY OFFSHORE WINDS....Dangerous fire weather conditions will persist through Friday asfuels remain extremely dry fuels and ready to burn, with Thursdaythe period of greatest concern. Any fire that starts can growfast and out of control. Red Flag Warnings have been extendedthrough 10am Friday.Northeast winds will strengthen and expand either tonight orThursday morning, with winds peaking on Thursday. Peak wind gustsof 35 to 50 mph will be common over much of Los Angeles andVentura Counties, with local gusts of 50 to 65 mph in the favoredmountains. Meanwhile, extremely low humidities will persist withminimums under 10 percent over much of the area and poor overnightrecoveries. While the winds will gradually weaken and shrink incoverage Thursday Night through Friday morning, pockets of gustywinds and widespread extremely dry conditions will maintain RedFlag Warning conditions through Friday morning.* WINDS...Northeast winds will increase to 20 to 30 mph with guststo 50 mph by Thursday, then gradually decrease Thursday Nightinto Friday.* RELATIVE HUMIDITY...Daily minimums of 2 to 10 percent commonwith very poor to minimal overnight recoveries.* IMPACTS...If fire ignition occurs, conditions are favorablefor extreme fire behavior and rapid fire growth, which wouldthreaten life and property.A Red Flag Warning means that critical fire weather conditionsare either occurring now, or will shortly. Air Quality Alert issued January 22 at 3:18PM PST by NWS Los Angeles/Oxnard CA* WHAT...The South Coast AQMD has issued an air quality alert due toincreased fine particle pollution from wildfire smoke andwindblown dust and ash.* WHERE...Wildfire smoke is expected to most heavily impact the SanGabriel Mountains, the I-5 Corridor near Castaic Lake, and SantaClarita. Other areas that may also be impacted include the SanFernando Valley and coastal areas including Malibu and PacificPalisades. Windblown ash is expected southwest of the Palisades andEaton impact zones. Winds may also disperse ash from the Hurst,Kenneth, Line, Airport, and Bridge fire burn scars. Levels ofparticle pollution can vary by time and location depending on fireactivity, emissions and local weather conditions.* WHEN...Wildfire smoke until 10 PM Thursday. Windblown dust and ash7 AM through 6 PM Thursday.* IMPACTS...Particles in wildfire smoke can get deep into the lungsand cause serious health problems such as heart attacks, strokes,asthma attacks, and difficulty breathing.
