High Surf Advisory issued December 27 at 12:53PM PST until December 31 at 3:00AM PST by NWS Los Angeles/Oxnard CA* WHAT...Large breaking waves of 10 to 15 feet lowering to 8 to 11feet Sunday afternoon and continuing into Monday night. Surfwill be highest across west-facing beaches. Strong anddangerous rip currents are expected.* WHERE...San Luis Obispo County Beaches and Santa BarbaraCounty Central Coast Beaches.* WHEN...Until 3 AM PST Tuesday.* IMPACTS...There is an increased risk for ocean drowning. Ripcurrents can pull swimmers and surfers out to sea. Largebreaking waves can cause injury, wash people off beaches androcks, and capsize small boats near shore.* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Minor coastal flooding is possible within acouple of hours of the morning high tides over the weekend. Hightides will increase to near 6 feet at around 8 AM PST Saturdayand Sunday. Shallow flooding is possible on vulnerable beachroads, and in low-lying parking lots and bike paths.Remain out of the water due to dangerous surf conditions, or staynear occupied lifeguard towers. Rock jetties can be deadlylocations in such conditions, so stay off the rocks.
