Severe thunderstorms are likely to produce heavy rainfall that may lead to flash flooding over the next several hours in parts of the Capricornia and Wide Bay and Burnett districts. Locations which may be affected include Bundaberg, Hervey Bay, Childers, Gin Gin and Miriam Vale. VERY DANGEROUS THUNDERSTORMS are likely to produce heavy, LOCALLY INTENSE RAINFALL that may lead to dangerous and life-threatening flash flooding over the next several hours in parts of the Wide Bay and Burnett district. Locations which may be affected include Bundaberg and Hervey Bay. HERVEY BAY RECORDED 108 mm IN THE 1 HOUR TO 06:49 AM.Severe Thunderstorm Warningfor HEAVY, LOCALLY INTENSE RAINFALLIssued at 12:19 pm Sunday, 9 March 2025.Emergency services advise people to: * If you have children make sure they are with you or an adult you trust. * Park your car undercover away from trees. * Close doors and windows. * Keep asthma medications close by. Storms and wind can trigger asthma attacks. * Charge mobile phones and power banks in case the power goes out. * Put your pets somewhere safe and make sure they can be identified in case they get lost. * Do not drive now unless you have to because conditions are dangerous. * Tell friends, family and neighbours in the area. * Go inside a strong building now. Stay inside until the storm has passed.The next warning is due to be issued by 3:20 pm.Warnings are also available through TV and Radio broadcasts, the Bureau's website at www.bom.gov.au or call 1300 659 210. The Bureau and emergency services would appreciate warnings being broadcast regularly.

HEAVY RAINFALL which may lead to FLASH FLOODING is developing across the Southeast Coast this morning, expected to become more widespread over the warning area during today, possibly including Brisbane, Ipswich, the Sunshine Coast and Gympie. Six-hourly rainfall totals between 80 and 130 mm are likely throughout today. 24-hourly totals between 120 and 200 mm are likely. Heavy rainfall is forecast to ease over southeast Queensland during Monday afternoon. Locally INTENSE RAINFALL which may lead to DANGEROUS AND LIFE-THREATENING FLASH FLOODING may develop throughout today in bands of showers and thunderstorms over the Southeast Coast and southern Wide Bay and Burnett, possibly including Brisbane, Ipswich and the Sunshine Coast. The risk of intense rainfall eases during this evening. Six-hourly rainfall totals between 150 and 180 mm and 24-hourly totals between 250 and 350 mm are possible. If intense rainfall is detected, a separate Detailed Severe Thunderstorm Warning will be issued. DAMAGING WIND GUSTS with peak gusts of around 90 km/h are possible this morning over the eastern Darling Downs and Granite Belt and the southeast coastal fringe. Damaging wind gusts are forecast to ease this afternoon. A separate SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING is current for heavy to locally intense rainfall over parts of the Capricornia and Wide Bay and Burnett. A Coastal Hazard Warning and Hazardous Surf Warning is current. A Flood Watch and Flood Warnings are current for southern and southeastern Queensland. For these products, see http://www.bom.gov.au/australia/warnings/ Locations which may be affected include Warwick, Gold Coast, Toowoomba, Brisbane, Maroochydore, Gympie, Stanthorpe, Caboolture, Coolangatta and Ipswich. 108 mm WAS RECORDED AT HERVEY BAY IN THE 1 HOUR TO 06:49 AM AND 233 mm IN THE 6 HOURS TO 7:39 AM. 144 mm was recorded at Mt Nebo in the 6 hours to 11:15 am. 142 mm was recorded at Mt Glorious in the 6 hours to 6:06 am. 118 mm was recorded at Highvale in the 6 hours to 10:41 am. 114 mm was recorded at Rosalie in the 6 hours to 11:38 am. 111 mm was recorded at Holland Park in the 3 hours to 11:21 am. 81mm was recorded at Holland Park West in the 2 hours to 10:10 am. 91 mm was recorded at Ghost Hill in the 2 hours to 07:17 am. Sustained 65 to 80 km/h winds were recorded at Redcliffe at times between 9:30 pm Saturday and 3:30 am this morning, with a 104 km/h wind gust at 9:24 pm Saturday.
