Severe thunderstorms are likely to produce heavy rainfall that may lead to flash flooding over the next several hours in parts of the Central Coast and Whitsundays, Central Highlands and Coalfields, Capricornia and Wide Bay and Burnett districts. Locations which may be affected include Rockhampton, Clermont, Yeppoon, Marlborough, St Lawrence, Capella, Dysart, Duaringa, Byfield, Miriam Vale, Mount Morgan and Seventeen Seventy. Severe thunderstorms are likely to produce damaging winds over the next several hours in parts of the Channel Country and Maranoa and Warrego districts. Locations which may be affected include Thargomindah, Quilpie, Hungerford and Eulo. Significant observations: 105 mm WAS RECORDED AT FRED HAIGH HIGHWAY IN THE 1 HOUR TO 2:41 PM. 250 mm WAS RECORDED AT HERVEY BAY IN THE 6 HOURS TO 11:30 AM. 204 mm WAS RECORDED AT GHOST HILL IN THE 6 HOURS TO 11:41 AM. 72 mm was recorded at Bucca Weir Highway in the 1 hour to 1:32 pm. 108 mm was recorded at Hermans Gully (Bucca Rd) in the 2 hours to 1:35 pm. 78 mm was recorded at Pine Creek (Pine Creek Road) in the 1 hour to 12:09 pm. 111 km/h wind gust was recorded at Thargomindah at 5:07 pm.Severe Thunderstorm Warningfor HEAVY RAINFALL and DAMAGING WINDSIssued at 6:07 pm Sunday, 9 March 2025.Emergency services advise people to: * Park your car undercover away from trees. * Close doors and windows. * Keep asthma medications close by. Widespread HEAVY RAINFALL which may lead to FLASH FLOODING continues across the Southeast Coast this evening, including Brisbane, Ipswich and the Sunshine Coast. Six-hourly rainfall totals between 80 and 130 mm are likely throughout today. 24-hourly totals between 120 and 200 mm are likely. Heavy rainfall is forecast to ease over southeast Queensland during Monday afternoon. Locally INTENSE RAINFALL which may lead to DANGEROUS AND LIFE-THREATENING FLASH FLOODING may develop today in bands of showers and thunderstorms over the Southeast Coast and southern Wide Bay and Burnett, possibly including Brisbane, Ipswich and the Sunshine Coast. The risk of intense rainfall eases during Monday morning. Six-hourly rainfall totals between 150 and 180 mm and 24-hourly totals between 250 and 350 mm are possible. If intense rainfall is detected, a separate Detailed Severe Thunderstorm Warning will be issued. A separate Severe Thunderstorm Warning is current for heavy to locally intense rainfall over parts of the Capricornia and Wide Bay and Burnett. A Flood Watch and Flood Warnings are current for southern and southeastern Queensland. As of 5pm, numerous locations across the Brisbane area recorded between 100-140 mm in 6 hours today, including: 144 mm was recorded at Carindale in the 6 hours to 2:01 pm. 144 mm was recorded at Mt Nebo in the 6 hours to 11:15 am. 142 mm was recorded at Mt Glorious in the 6 hours to 6:06 am. 137 mm was recorded at Mount Coot-tha in the 6 hours to 2:28 pm. 137 mm was recorded at Green Hills Reserve in the 6 hours to 1:38 pm. 129 mm was recorded at East Brisbane in the 6 hours to 2:07 pm. 118 mm was recorded at Highvale in the 6 hours to 10:41 am. 114 mm was recorded at Rosalie in the 6 hours to 11:38 am.Severe Weather Warningfor HEAVY, LOCALLY INTENSE RAINFALLIssued at 5:00 pm Sunday, 9 March 2025.Emergency services advise people to: * If you have children make sure they are with you or an adult you trust. * Park your car undercover away from trees. * Close doors and windows. * Keep asthma medications close by.
