Total snow accumulations 8 to 16 inches. Winds gusting ashigh as 45 mph.* WHERE...Montgomery, Herkimer, and Southern Fulton Counties.* WHEN...Until 6 AM EST Wednesday.* IMPACTS...Travel will be difficult. Areas of blowing snow couldsignificantly reduce visibility. The hazardous conditions couldimpact the Tuesday morning and evening commutes. Strong windscould cause tree damage. Visibilities will lower below a quartermile at times with near whiteout conditions.* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Strong winds along with the weight of snowand ice on trees will lead to to an increased risk of downed treesand power lines, resulting in power outages. Heavy lake effectsnow will continue through Tuesday with the potential for nearblizzard conditions at times. The strongest winds and greatestsnowfall will occur in southern Herkimer County into MontgomeryCounty.During lake effect snow, the weather can vary from bands of locallyheavy snow to dry weather just a few miles away. Visibilities canalso vary greatly.
