Excessive Heat Warning issued July 7 at 12:46PM PDT until July 12 at 10:00PM PDT by NWS Elko NV* WHAT...Dangerously hot conditions with high temperatures 102to 107 degrees in the valleys expected.* WHERE...Humboldt, Lander, Eureka, and Northern Nye Counties.* WHEN...Until 10 PM PDT Friday evening.* IMPACTS...Extreme heat will significantly increase thepotential for heat related illnesses, particularly for thoseworking or participating in outdoor activities.Drink plenty of fluids, remain in an air-conditioned room, stayout of the sun, and check on relatives and neighbors. Youngchildren and pets should never be left unattended in vehiclesunder any circumstances.Take extra precautions if you work or spend time outside. Whenpossible reschedule strenuous activities to early morning orevening. Know the signs and symptoms of heat exhaustion and heatstroke. Wear lightweight and loose fitting clothing whenpossible. To reduce risk during outdoor work, the OccupationalSafety and Health Administration recommends scheduling frequentrest breaks in shaded or air conditioned environments.
