Flood Watch issued September 26 at 11:20PM EDT until September 27 at 8:00AM EDT by NWS Jacksonville FL* WHAT...Flash flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to bepossible.* WHERE...Portions of Florida, including the following areas, Baker,Bradford, Coastal Duval, Coastal Flagler, Coastal Nassau, CoastalSt. Johns, Eastern Clay, Eastern Marion, Eastern Putnam, InlandFlagler, Inland Nassau, Inland St. Johns, South Central Duval,Trout River, Union, Western Clay, Western Duval and Western Putnamand southeast Georgia, including the following areas, Appling,Bacon, Brantley, Coastal Camden, Coastal Glynn, Inland Camden,Inland Glynn, Northeastern Charlton, Northern Ware, Pierce,Southern Ware, Wayne and Western Charlton.* WHEN...Until 8 AM EDT Friday.* IMPACTS...Excessive rainfall due to a tropical system will likelyresult in scattered areas of flash flooding and isolated episodesof considerable flash flooding, specifically in urban flood pronelocations.* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...- Widespread heavy rainfall falling over a short period of timeovernight is likely as Major Hurricane Helene acceleratesnorth northeastward tonight, making landfall over the FloridaBig Bend coast late this evening and then moving acrossinterior south Georgia. Tropical Storm Warning issued September 26 at 11:14PM EDT by NWS Jacksonville FL* LOCATIONS AFFECTED- Normandy- Jacksonville Heights- Baldwin* WIND- LATEST LOCAL FORECAST: Below tropical storm force wind- Peak Wind Forecast: 25-35 mph with gusts to 45 mph- THREAT TO LIFE AND PROPERTY THAT INCLUDES TYPICAL FORECASTUNCERTAINTY IN TRACK, SIZE AND INTENSITY: Potential for wind 58to 73 mph- The wind threat has remained nearly steady from theprevious assessment.- PLAN: Plan for dangerous wind of equivalent strong tropicalstorm force.- PREPARE: Remaining efforts to protect life and propertyshould be completed as soon as possible. Prepare forsignificant wind damage.- ACT: Move to safe shelter before the wind becomes hazardous.- POTENTIAL IMPACTS: Significant- Some damage to roofing and siding materials, along withdamage to porches, awnings, carports, and sheds. A fewbuildings experiencing window, door, and garage doorfailures. Mobile homes damaged, especially if unanchored.Unsecured lightweight objects become dangerous projectiles.- Several large trees snapped or uprooted, but with greaternumbers in places where trees are shallow rooted. If a tornadowarning is issued, be ready to shelter quickly.- POTENTIAL IMPACTS: Extensive- The occurrence of numerous tornadoes can greatly hinder theexecution of emergency plans during tropical events.- Many places may experience tornado damage with a few spotsof immense destruction, power loss, and communicationsfailures.- Locations could realize roof and wall failures of sturdybuildings with some being leveled, structures upon weakfoundations blown away, mobile homes obliterated, largetrees twisted and snapped with forested trees uprooted,vehicles lifted off the ground and thrown, and small boatsdestroyed.
