Fire Weather Watch issued December 30 at 9:53AM PST until January 2 at 6:00PM PST by NWS Los Angeles/Oxnard CA...RED FLAG WARNINGS IN EFFECT TUESDAY INTO WEDNESDAY FORPORTIONS OF THE LOS ANGELES AND VENTURA COUNTY MOUNTAINS ANDVALLEYS DUE TO GUSTY NORTH TO NORTHEAST WINDS AND LOW HUMIDITY,WITH FIRE WEATHER WATCHES IN EFFECT WEDNESDAY NIGHT INTOTHURSDAY......FIRE WEATHER WATCH REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM TUESDAY INTOTHURSDAY FOR THE VENTURA/MALIBU COASTS DUE TO GUSTY NORTH TONORTHEAST WINDS AND LOW HUMIDITY....North to northeast winds will remain dominant through Thursday.Winds will peak Tuesday into Wednesday, but look much morelocalized than earlier projections. Peak wind gusts of 30 to 45mph are expected over the favored mountains and hills. Thefavored valleys will also be breezy, with peak gusts of 20 to 30mph. Meanwhile, a very dry air mass with humidities well under 10percent will remain over most mountain elevated above 4,000 feet,with humidities lowering into the 8 to 20 percent range over thelower mountains and valleys by Wednesday. Red Flag Warningconditions remain possible, but now look to be confined to thewindiest and driest mountains. The current suite of Red FlagWarnings and Fire Weather Watches will be assessed today and willlikely be modified this afternoon.* WINDS...North to northeast winds 10 to 20 mph with gusts to 35mph. Strongest winds near Malibu.* RELATIVE HUMIDITY...Minimums 10 to 20 percent.* IMPACTS...If fire ignition occurs, conditions are favorablefor rapid fire spread and extreme fire behavior which wouldthreaten life and property.A Fire Weather Watch means that critical fire weather conditionsare likely to occur in the coming days. Surf will behighest across west-facing beaches. Strong and dangerous ripcurrents are expected.* WHERE...Ventura County Beaches.* WHEN...Until 9 PM PST this evening.* IMPACTS...There is an increased risk for ocean drowning. Ripcurrents can pull swimmers and surfers out to sea. Largebreaking waves can cause injury, wash people off beaches androcks, and capsize small boats near shore.* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Nuisance coastal flooding is possiblewithin a couple of hours of the high tide this morning.Remain out of the water due to dangerous surf conditions, or staynear occupied lifeguard towers. Rock jetties can be deadlylocations in such conditions, so stay off the rocks.
