High Surf Advisory issued December 28 at 7:17PM PST until December 31 at 3:00AM PST by NWS Los Angeles/Oxnard CA* WHAT...Large breaking waves of 10 to 15 feet with local setsup to 18 feet. Surf subsiding to 8 to 11 feet Sunday afternoonthrough Monday night. Surf will be highest across west-facingbeaches. Strong and dangerous rip currents are expected.* WHERE...San Luis Obispo County Beaches and Santa BarbaraCounty Central Coast Beaches.* WHEN...Until 3 AM PST Tuesday.* IMPACTS...There is an increased risk for ocean drowning. Ripcurrents can pull swimmers and surfers out to sea. Largebreaking waves can cause injury, wash people off beaches androcks, and capsize small boats near shore.* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Minor coastal flooding is possible withina couple of hours of the morning high tides over the weekend.High tides will increase to near 6 feet between 7 AM and 730AM PST Sunday. Shallow flooding is possible on vulnerablebeach roads, and in low-lying parking lots and bike paths.Remain out of the water due to dangerous surf conditions, or staynear occupied lifeguard towers. Rock jetties can be deadly insuch conditions, stay off the rocks.
