Water levels on this evening's high tide may exceed the highest tide of the year by less than half a metre and ease further into Tuesday but are expected to increase again during the week depending on the movement of Tropical Cyclone Alfred. This could lead to minor flooding of the foreshore and coastal erosion. Damaging surf conditions leading to significant beach erosion are likely between Sandy Cape and Coolangatta and are expected to continue for the next several days as Tropical Cyclone Alfred moves towards the southeast Queensland coast. A separate Hazardous Surf Warning is also current. A Tropical Cyclone Watch has been issued for coastal regions south of Sandy Cape. A Flood Watch has been issued for South East Queensland. Significant wave heights near or in excess of 4 m are currently being observed at the Mooloolaba, Brisbane, Gold Coast and Tweed Offshore wave buoys. The significant wave height reached 4.87 m at the Wide Bay wave buoy early Sunday morning and remained above 4 m during much of this morning.Coastal Hazard Warningfor ABNORMALLY HIGH TIDES and DAMAGING SURFIssued at 10:31 pm Monday, 3 March 2025.Emergency services advise people to: * Know your limitations around beaches, tidal rivers and creeks.
